1. Japandi
The Japandi interior design is a mix of Nordic and Japanese style. In short, Japandi is a hybrid trend. Take the modern style of Scandinavian design and combine it with the timeless elegance of Japanese aesthetics to create a style that brings together the best of both worlds.
It is not hard to see why these two styles have been combined. Despite the fact they come from different parts of the world, they share similar principles — both minimalists. Both emphasize the importance of creating spaces based on defined functions, with a few pieces, instead of an abundance of decoration.
It is their differences that make this mash-up especially interesting. While Japanese spaces can be too elegant, rustic details in Nordic design add variance. When Scandinavian interiors tend to be so neutral that they may look antiseptic, the rich color palette of Japanese design adds warmth to the room.
2. Wabi Sabi
It is about highlighting the beauty of the old and worn. Articles inherited from previous generations finds in second-hand markets, DIY projects, folk art, and vintage pieces coexist very well in these new styles of decoration, providing contrasting textures and many patterns and colors.
3.Nordic
The rooms designed in the Scandinavian style as we recognize it today tend to boast of white walls to emphasize the light, a palette of neutral and heavy colors with touches of color, natural textures such as wood and stone. Curtains and rustic rugs, and uncomplicated simple designs that emphasize an elegantly minimalist aesthetic.
4.Rustic
It creates a various aspect that emphasizes nature: recycled items, handmade, handicrafts, built with natural materials or finished in natural tones.
5. Dark woods
The interior designers are leaning towards darker colors. They are moving away from pale and bleached woods that were enormously popular thanks to the Scandinavian trend of recent years. This year, darker wood shades bring a resurgence of retro glamor and offer a new vision of modern luxury.
The metal handles and legs are the perfect finishing touches to add a bit of extra glam. A fusion of walnut, gold, brass and black marble gives a very sophisticated feel to many pieces of furniture.
The retro shapes, like these wishbone style dining chairs, are one of the most popular trends you can see for this year.
While oak is still prevalent, many new products are being seen in dark wood, such as wenge. The bleached wood is no longer fashionable, this year it is more about rustic and dark wood essences. Also, wood remains a trend, especially if combined with other materials such as glass and metal, in expensive and original design solutions.
6. Terrazzo
What do you think of the recent reappearance of terrazzo in the interiors? The trend of terrazzo began last year, to explode this year in both design, graphics and architecture, and will probably last.
However, while the real historical terrazzo consists of a mixture of really small remains scattered in the concrete, the terrazzo that we see today is a mixture of different marbles with larger sizes, less density and a more striking graphic aspect.
Max Lamb invented a material he called Marmoreal: a designed material composed of four different types of Italian marble and 5% polyester resin to obtain a more resistant stone, less porous and more durable than natural marbles. Its appearance is entirely different from the traditional terrazzo and much more interesting.
7.Natural materials such as wood, mud or wicker, will replace the cold marble, which was very booming in recent years. The natural texture of cane or rattan will also be used to add interest to the rooms.
8. Brown leather
This is more of a perennial trend, as bronze or cognac leather never goes out of style. However, this year will be more than usual, and many furniture brands are using this material.
9.Industrial style metals
While metal tones will always be used a lot, and as we have said, more specifically the bronze, little by little, we see more and more industrial-looking metals, such as black steel or burnished metals. The brass, polished nickel and silver are coming back.
10.Handicrafts
The texture is essential this season. The furniture provides a natural touch handmade with materials such as rattan and wicker, two materials widely used. Textiles have a playful role in many adornments, such as applications on the edges and other details, all irresistible to the touch.
It can be achieved merely by playing with textures and materials. Whether it's wicker furniture, macrame cushions or a mixture of marble and metal, do not underestimate the power of combining different textures.
11. Metallic details
The addition of luxurious metallic touches is not new, but the big difference this year is the tone of the metallic finish. They will use less copper and rose gold, and more bronze. The bronze tones are the most sophisticated and organic palette of metallic colors.
Lamps and smaller fixtures are the perfect way to inject a new trend into a room without having to invest in larger and more expensive furniture. You can mix bronze with marble to achieve a feeling of illumination.
12. Fringes
This new and fun trend is not as popular yet, but it seems it is on its way to becoming one.
13. Roses
Different shades of pink are being applied in different decorative objects.
14. Interior decoration: Living rooms
The shapes are both geometric and organic. Within the geometric designs are the stripes, for example, and inside the organic forms, many curved armchairs and wall papers painted by hand with watercolor.
The styles and materials exhibited in Milan include terrazzo, velvet, ottomans and side tables, lamps, copper objects, handmade glazed ceramics, colored vases, wooden vases. Velvet upholstery remains a strong trend.
The plants are acquiring an important role. If you can not commit to keeping a plant alive, then a single tree branch in a vase or some branches of large trees in a basket add a dose of life and vegetation to space.
