How to paint a room:

Choosing the type of painting is one of the first keys so that painting a room does not become an odyssey. Luckily for us, the main paint brands publish catalogs that illustrate the characteristics of their products. All paint brands offer extensive ranges, among which the choice is sometimes difficult. The preference should go to one type or another radically depending on the support (wood, plaster, concrete, etc.) and the destination of the room you must paint (for example, do not use paints that smell too strong for a bedroom that is for a baby or child).

Also, it is necessary to know that certain colors are more difficult to apply than others; a dark paint, for example, highlights all the irregularities of the lower part, so they require a much more accurate preparation of the wall.

On the other hand, in the case of having to paint walls that is already painted with solid color paint, it will be appropriate to use a washable water paint. However, the latter can not be used in damp rooms, such as the bathroom and the kitchen, since molds could be formed. In the latter case, breathable water-based paint is preferable.

Choose the material well:

We have already indicated the basics that are needed to paint, but it is also essential that we know which materials are the best when choosing these.

The primary material of the painter can vary a lot depending on the importance and type of work to be done. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate the last well before buying what you need. For example, for the brush or brush that will be used, if it is the first time a job of this magnitude is done, a roller is better, to avoid the marks of the past on the walls. There are rolls of different shapes and materials, suitable for specific uses and types of colors.

Prepare the room well:

Also, the first thing that is done before painting a room is to cover the floor and any object left in the room with newspapers.

On the other hand, it will not hurt to cover with tape (called masking tape) the corners of the roof (if they protrude) as well as the baseboards of the floor in the case of having them, so that they do not stain with paint.

Do not forget to collect the furniture in the center of the room and cover them with nylon sheets, or plastic, fixing them with adhesive tape. A similar operation must be carried out including the accessories and any other point in the room with adhesive tape. All this, of course, to avoid lengthy and exhausting work of final cleaning.

Primer Paint:

Before painting, it is necessary to take a liter of fixative primer or priming paint, and dilute it with six liters of water and run one hand along the wall.

The priming paint has the characteristic of allowing the subsequent paint to adhere very well to the wall, to resist several years.

Steps to paint a room:

After applying this paint, it is recommended to wait at least 4 hours before proceeding with the actual painting.

Pass the first coat of paint, wait another 5 hours, or wait the next day, and pass the second coat, which will result in a much more similar color.

At this point, the paint will be dry to the touch after an hour, but before entering and using the room, it is preferable to let at least a couple of hours pass.

Steps to paint roofs and corners:

With a roller extension, start from the ceiling; This way, if it drips on the walls, it will be enough to cover it later.

Before passing the color with the roller, it is necessary to paint with a brush the corners between the walls and, in particular, those that are at the height of the floor and the ceiling, the most difficult to paint using the roller.

How to move the roller

You must run the roller on the surface with constant speed, from top to bottom, to draw regular parallel lines. A trick is to paint with the technique of the cross: a first pass in vertical or horizontal, a second in the opposite direction and the last in a sense used to give the first hand. To simplify the expense of painting, use the wall to divide it into sections of approximately 1 square meter: once you have finished one square, advance to the next.
